THE SILENT REAPER.
HAAGEN TOBIASON.
Haagen Tobiason, ono of Decorah’s old and respected citizens, died at his home on east Water street Monday last after a long illness. Mr. Tobiason was born Jan. 10th, 1822, in Valders, Norway, and had just passed into his seventy-ninth year. On July 17th, 1859, he was married to Ragnild Olsdater and to them one daughter was born, Inger, now Mrs. W. J. Schmitz, of Milwaukee. In 1869 they came to America and settled here in Decorah.
By all who know him, and his acquaintance was a large one, he was thoroughly respected. In early days it seemed to be his pleasure to aid immigrants and calls upon his services for them were not infrequent. He was a friend to all and by a kindness which seemed to be characteristic be showed the great heart which was contained in a frail body.
The widow and daughter survive to mourn and keep in grateful remembrance a kind and indulgent husband and father.
The funeral will be hold at the United Lutheran church to-morrow afternoon at two o'clock.
