INGVOLDSTAD.
The death of P. O. Ingvoldstad, Tuesday afternoon at his home on east Broadway, came as a shock to all save a few who knew that he was in a dangerous condition. During the winter he suffered an attack of grip. This developed into pleurisy and on Sunday last he was compelled to take to his bed. He grew worse rapidly and on Monday his condition was so serious that absent members of the family were sent for. Even then his death was not anticipated so soon. Tuesday, after dinner, he conversed with his son Will about some business matters for a little while. The latter went to his place of business only to be called back in a few minutes to find his father dead.
Mr. Ingvoldstad was born in Hamar, Hedemarken, Norway, Sept. 1st, 1838, and came to America in 1864, locating at Decorah. Here he has since resided, following the trade of carpentering and building. In 1867 he was married to Josephine Engbertson. To them twelve children were born and all are living. They are Carl O., of Wichita, Kas., Ferdinand, of Fargo, N. D., Hildor E., of Sargeant Bluff, Iowa, Otto A., of Chicago, Arthur, of Varina, Iowa, and Will, Agnes, Walter, Orlando, Richard, Ethel and Ruth, who are at home. The funeral will be hold to-morrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the United Lutheran church, Rev. J. O. Haugen officiating, and all the children will be present. It will be the first re-union that has taken place in this family, and especially touching because it is occasioned by the first death in the family. As a husband, father, and citizen Mr. Ingvoldstad has always borne himself so as to earn the respect and esteem of the community.
