OBITUARY.
JOHN DINGER.
In the death of John Dinger, Sr. which occurred at the home of his son Frank in Decorah, last Friday, Winnesheik county loses another of its early settlers, Mr. Dinger was born July 22, 1816, at Pine Creek, Schuylkill Co., Pa., from which place he removed to Ohio where he was married to Miss Elizabeth Klontz. They moved to Stephenson Co., Ill., where they resided for a time prior to their coming to Iowa, which was in 1856. Their first home was on the Sawyer farm about two miles northeast of town, but in 1859 Mr. Dinger bought the farm in Canoe township, where he continued to reside until he moved to town about four years ago, and which is now owned by his son Frank. Mrs. Dinger died thirteen years ago. To them five children were born, of whom but two sons, Frank and John, survive. Mr. Dinger’s last days were quiet, peaceful ones. He was confined to his bed only a few days, and death came to him while he slept. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. M. Willett officiating, and the remains were taken to the Russell cemetery for burial.
