OBITUARY.
Catherine Maria Decker was born in Blenheim, Schoharie county, N Y., March 22, 1828. She was married to Stephen Berry Dec. 8, 1847. Five children, four daughters and one son, were born of this union, and of this family three daughters are now living. Mr. and Mrs. Berry came to Iowa in the autumn of 1856, locating near Burr Oak, where Mr. Berry passed from earth in 1889. Mrs. Berry came to West Decorah six years ago, where she resided till she departed this life in the early morning of April 1, 1901. The funeral services were held at Burr Oak April 3, conducted by her pastor, Rev. A W Smith, assisted by Rev. Thompson, of Burr Oak.
In early life Mrs. Berry united with the Methodist Episcopal church and was a faithful member of that organization to the close of her life on earth. She was a true wife and mother. She led a beautiful Christian life and during her long illness she was patient, gentle, cheerful, and fully trusting in Jesus as her Savior.
