Obituary
Emily Louise Thune was born on her father’s farm In Glenwood Tp., Winnesheik Co., Nov. 20, 1865, and died at Crookston, Minn., March 13, 1901, not surviving an operation on the cervical glands of her neck. No danger was feared, but still the operation proved fatal, and relatives and friends are left to mourn her irreparable loss. Yet they sorrow not as those without hope, for hers was a beautiful christian life: always unselfish, not seeking her own, but living for the good of others, as those can testify who came in contact with her. She was converted and unit¬ed with the Baptist church at Crookston in 1885, and of which denomination she has since been a member. Her life work, though short, was that of a teacher, having taught in various places in Iowa, and Minnesota. She received her education in the schools of Decorah, Crookston, Winona and Wisconsin University, being called from the latter place in the home of a sister, who died about two years ago. Here she remained, taking care of the motherless children, until death took her away. Her funeral was held March 16th from the First Baptist church. Rev. M. Lawson, of the M. E. church conducting the services, after which she was laid to rest near her sister in the beautiful Oakdale cemetery at Crookston. The bereaved mourn but they feel she has “gone on before." She leaves a mother, three brothers and one sister to await reunion.Transcriber’s Note: Her name is shown two different ways.
