Nels Istad, the aged father of Ed. Istad, of the firm of Bidne & Istad, hardware merchants, died at the home of his son in this city on Sunday last, aged 74 years. Deceased came to Illinois from Voss, Norway in 1850, and in 1860 came over to Iowa and found a home in Pleasant township, this county. He was the father of three sons and one daughter.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery shows he was born April 14, 1827 and died Feb. 17, 1901.
