He continued to reside in Ohio until 1865 when he moved to Winnesheik Co., Iowa, where he has since made his home. Before moving west he was engaged in merchandising, and learned to know this portion of the country through numerous visits here as a shipper of horses. When he moved to this country he bought land in Canoe township where he resided until 1875. He then moved to Decorah and built the home he has since occupied. He was always a prosperous man in all his undertakings. On March 31st, 1869, he was married to Miss Lorena White, daughter of Hon. Anthony White, of Ohio. Mr. Marlow was one of nine children, he having five brothers and three sisters. Of these four survive —Wm. and E. G. Marlow, and Mrs. Boggs, of Decorah, and Mrs. Bowers, of Des Moines. Up to the past year the deceased has enjoyed good health, but during the last few months he has failed rapidly. On the 4th inst. He was confined to his home by illness, but was able to be down town for a while on election day. Since then he has not left the house, sinking steadily until death claimed him on Monday evening last. The funeral services were held at the residence this morning at 10 o’clock, the remains being taken to the Russel cemetery for burial.Transcriber's Note: His gravestone in Russell Cemetery shows he was born in 1822.
