Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hayes returned yesterday from. Oakdale sanitarium with the body of their son Thomas who passed away there, Wednesday, after a long five-year struggle with tuberculosis.

Tommie Hayes passed away Friday at Iowa City, after a lingering illness. The remains were brought to Cresco Monday, and interment was in the local cemetery near Granger. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family.

HAYES.
Thomas E. Hayes was born Feb. 17, 1887, at Cresco, Iowa, in Albion township. Most of his youthful days were spent at school. In 1907 he became the victim of tuberculosis and in a vain effort to regain his health, went to Texas, Colorado and the home sanitarium at Oakdale, Iowa, where he passed away January 3, 1912, aged 24 years and 10 months.
He leaves to mourn, his parents and brothers, Philip and Joe. He was laid to rest in St. Kyrons{sic} cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his parents and brothers.

OBITUARY
Thomas Hayes was born Feb. 17th, 1887, in Albion township, Howard Co., Iowa, and grew to manhood on his father's farm there. He attended school in Chicago and Decorah, graduating from both schools. While attending school in Decorah he contracted tuberculosis while caring for a fellow student. The last five years of his life was spent in Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Oakdale, Iowa, in the pursuit of health, and although every thing that could be done was tried, nothing availed and he departed this life Jan. 3rd, 1912, at the sanitarium in Oakdale, Iowa, leaving his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hayes and two brothers Phillip and Joseph, besides many relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss.
