SCHRUBBE.
August Ferdinand Schrubbe, who died shortly after four o’clock Saturday morning, was born in Moetzelfitz, Pommern, Germany, March 29th, 1840. In 1856 he came to America and located at Watertown, Wis. Six years later he came to Iowa and located in Decorah. Here he was married to Miss Caroline Hilleman who, with seven children, survives him. The children are Mrs. Frank Stevens and William Schrubbe of Decorah, Mary, Henry, Louis, Minnie and Edward who reside at home. For a number of years Mr. Schrubbe was engaged in the manufacture of soap here in Decorah and later had charge of the Addicken property for some time. For a number of years he was on the Collins farm near Ossian but during the past two years has been on the Crawford farm in Madison township. His illness dates back several months and was caused by a complication of kidney and liver difficulties. The funeral was held Tuesday noon in Madison township and the remains were brought to Decorah for burial in the Phelps cemetery Rev. M. Willett officiated.
