David T. Reese was born in Licking Co.. Ohio, March 1{?}th, 1837, and when eight years of age his family settled in Jefferson Co., Wis., where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Mary Griffith Sept. 24th, 1867, moved to Iowa Co., this state, in 1868, to Kansas in 1879 and to Burr Oak in 1889. Five children came to the family, three sons and two daughters, all of whom survive and mourn the loss of a kind, good father. Mr. Reese was one of a family of eleven children, and the fifth to be claimed by death. On the 15th of January last he was stricken with paralysis, for nine months he has been helpless, and died Oct. 16. Mr. Reese was tenderly cared for through all these months, and the many friends of the family sympathise with them deeply.

Transcriber’s Note: The day of birth is not clear – could be 10th or 19th. His gravestone in Burr Oak Cemetery shows his name spelled Rees.
