Death of a Pioneer
To-day the remains of Jacob Falck, one of the old settlers of Washington township, are being laid to rest. Mr. Falck was stricken by paralysis on Friday last and died Monday. Alexander’s history of the county says he was born in Strasbourg, Germany, in 1824, and came to America in 1851. After serving for six years as an employe of the government near Pittsburg, he came west and took up a claim near Fort Atkinson where he continued to reside for many years. He was married in 1855 to Miss Mary Glass. Mrs. Falck and several children survive him.

LAWRENCE FALCK
The REPUBLICAN was in error last week in recording the death of Jacob Falck of Calmar. It was not Jacob but his older brother Lawrence.
Lawrence Falck was born in Strasbourg, Germany, in 1817, came to America in the spring of 1853, and in September following settled on the place in Washington township where he died. He was married in Germany previous to coming to America to Salma Glass, who died shortly after arriving here. Three years later he was married to Annie Breidauer who died fourteen years ago. Mr. Falck is survived by five children Charles of Locust and Lawrence of Strawberry Point, children of the first marriage: and Jacob of Washington township and Mrs. Mary and Mrs. Elizabeth Gesell of Elma.

Transcriber's Note: Iowa Gravestone Photos show his name as Lorentz who is buried in the St. James German Lutheran Cemetery. He was born June 1, 1817.
