SEVERT O. WILSON
Yesterday, at the home of Rev. L. P. Jensen at Rembrandt, Iowa death claimed in the person of Severt O. Wilson another of the old settlers of Decorah and Winneshiek county.
Mr. Wilson was born on July 5, 1831, in Voss in the district of Bergen, Norway, and came to America in 1850. For three years he resided in Chicago. In 1853 he went to Beloit, Wis., where he resided almost a year and was married to Sarah L. Hegland on May 1, 1854, they came to Winneshiek County and have ever since made their home here. To them seven children were born, four of whom died in infancy. The surviving members of the family are Mrs. Jensen, Mrs. J. J. Hopperstad of this city, and Mrs. L. J. VanBuren of Minneapolis. Mrs. Wilson died about a year ago. Mr. Wilson was a tailor by trade and followed that occupation almost exclusively during his active days. He enlisted during the civil war in Co. D, 6th Iowa Cavalry, under the late T. W. Burdick and served out his full enlistment. For something over a year Mr. Wilson has been a victim of creeping paralysis, and since the first week in November last has been confined to his bed. On June 19 Rev. Jensen took him to his home at Rembrandt, but at that time it was not thought the end was so near. Besides his daughters Mr. Wilson is survived by a brother and sister residing in Fillmore county, Minn. The remains will he brought here for burial, the services probably being held tomorrow.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Lutheran Decorah Cemetery and that his first name is shown as Siver
