HENRY A. ANDERSON.
A telegram was received Thursday last from Devils Lake, N. D. announcing the death of Henry A. Anderson, third son of Erick Anderson of Springfield township. Mr. Anderson was born at the family home in Springfield township Oct. 11, 1865, and always remained there until about two years ago when he went to Ramsey Co., N. D., purchased a pre-emption right and proved up on a piece of land. Here he lived up to, within a few days of his death. While he was able to be about, his health had been impaired for some weeks. Failing to recover, he went to Devil Lake to consult physicians, making his home with his brother, attorney W. M. Anderson formerly of Ossian. His condition became so serious that a consultation of physicians became necessary and his affliction was pronounced appendicitis. The physicians said the only relief would be from an operation and that he was too weak to withstand the ordeal. He was confined to his bed but four days and passed away at about eight o’clock Wednesday night. The remains were brought to Decorah by his brother, arriving here Saturday morning, and was taken to the Methodist church about a mile and a half east of Nordness where services were held in the afternoon by Rev. K. W. Robbins of this city. Interment was made in the cemetery near by.Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone photo shows his year of birth as 1866.
