JOB JUDSON OVERACKER
J. J. Overacker died at his home on River street Tuesday night about eleven o’clock, after an illness of several weeks from dropsy. Deceased was born in Middlesex county, N. Y. Aug. 18, 1825. His parents moved to Michigan when he was about ten years old, and part of his early life was spent in Ohio. He was married in 1846 to Miss Abigail Odell, who lived but a short time. In 1848 he married Miss Phoebe Odell. Seven children were born to them, six of whom, (four sons and two daughters) with the mother, survive him. They came to Iowa in 1865 and for a few years lived in Burr Oak. For the past twenty-five years the family home has been in Decorah where Mr. Overacker has become familiar to young and old as the veteran in the passenger express business. The funeral will be held Friday.
