Dr. Wilcox Dead.
The sad intelligence came Tuesday morning or the death of Dr. E. T Wilcox, the well-known physician or Frankville. He died in a New York hospital where he went a short time ago for treatment for Bright’s disease. An operation had been performed in hopes that his life might be prolonged. Death was the risk taken in hope of relief from an almost certain fate, but it brought relief the speedier. Dr. Wilcox has been located at Frankville for about fifteen years, and until a short time ago, has been in the most active practice, riding night and day, his services ever at the command of a large and over increasing clientage. As a practioner{sp} he ranked very high in his profession, and was one who honored his profession by his work. Undoubtedly the constant and unremitting application to his patients, the days and nights of most laborious service, have done much to bring about his sickness and death. He was about 51 years of age and leaves a wife and one daughter. We hope to give the full particulars of his life next week. The remains will arrive from New York to-day.

Emmons Thomas Wilcox was born at Canaan, Wayne Co., Pa, February 13, 1852, of pure New England ancestry and moved to Wisconsin in early boyhood. He was graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1876 and in 1881 from the medical department of the University of New York. This was supplemented by post graduate courses in Chicago in 1882 and 1891 He practiced in Wisconsin eight years, at Turner Junction one year and at Garrison, Iowa, two years. In 1887 he came to Frankville, where he remained until a short time before his death, which occurred at New York City, May 26, 1902. He was married in 1888 to Mrs. Helen McKay Fannon, who, with her daughter Hattie, and the Dr.’s daughter by a former marriage, Mrs. Frankie Hoyt, of Webster City, and his brother Dr. George Wilcox, of Chicago, are left to mourn their loss. Words cannot ex¬press the sorrow of this community. We can partly indicate it by the crowd that attended the funeral, which numbered nearly six hundred. Being a very successful physician, his practice extended for miles around. He worked untiringly day and night, and in reality gave his life for the people. No physician ever lived in Frankville, nor perhaps ever will, who will be missed as Dr. Wilcox. Our hearts are especially saddened for Mrs. Wilcox in her deep affliction, who is separated from a loving husband in the prime of life. The funeral services which were conducted by the Masonic Fraternity were held at Frankville in the Presbyterian church, Friday, May 30, Rev. Gregg officiating. The remains were laid at rest in the Pagin cemetery. Besides the immediate family there were present at the funeral the following relatives: S. R. Hoyt, of Webster City, Dr. George Wilcox, Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Williams and Clara, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Algycr, of Decorah, James McKay, of Estherville and Winfield Rathbun and family of Pinchville.
