Tom Thunder Drowned
Tom Thunder, son of John Thunder, the big medicine man of the Winnebagoes, was drowned while attempting to cross the river at Black River Falls on the 28th ult. He had been drinking and persisted in his attempt despite the urgent advice of others who saw in it great danger. He was 32 years of age and possessed more than unusual Indian intelligence.
