A Bright Life Closed.
On Saturday morning last at Madison, Wis., Miss Louise Asseln, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Asseln of West Decorah, died from a complication of diseases. When she returned to her studies at the Wisconsin University after the holiday vacation she was suffering from a severe cold. This developed into pneumonia and was complicated by inflammatory rheumatism and a weakness of the heart, a combination that even a more vigorous constitution would find it hard to withstand. Miss Asseln was a very bright young lady. After graduating from the Decorah High School she became a student of Wisconsin University and this year was undertaking the difficult task of taking two years’ work in one. It seemed easy for her to learn lessons that for other and older students were difficult in the extreme. The sympathy of many friends is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Asseln and their family in their affliction.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows her name as Alice Louise and is buried in Phelps Cemetery. She was born Dec. 4, 1884 and died Feb. 8, 1902.
