OBITUARY.—David Dorn who has been a sufferer for so long died at his home in Ridgeway about 12 m. January 13, 1902. Mr. Dorn was born at Solon, Cortland Co. N Y March 6th, 1826. While a lad he moved with his parents to Ashtabula Co., Ohio, where he grow to manhood. May 17th, 1850, he was united in marriage to Miss Susan Robinson and with his bride came to Dune County. Wis. They remained there for seven years, when they removed to Fredericksburg, this state. After spending ten years there they came to Winnesheik Co. in 1867, and have been residents of this county ever since, making Ridgeway their home for the last thirty-three years. Mr. Dorn has been engaged in the stock and grain business and for a large part of the time, managed a big farm but for the last few years he has given the latter over to his youngest son, Abner. A year ago last summer- -it being the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage—all the children and grand-children came home for a family re-union, all but three being present. At that time one of the daughters remarked that they would probably never again be all together under such pleasing circumstances. Now, as they gather once more, it is around father's deathbed and last resting place.
Mr. Dorn leaves as sincere mourners his wife and six children: Byron Dorn of Chicago, Herbert Dorn of South Sioux City. Mrs. Fleming of Fayette, Mrs. Branaman of Concord, Neb.. Abner Dorn, of Ridgeway, and Miss Mabel at home. Two children have gone on before.
Mr. Dorn has been troubled with rheumatism for some time, but it is only a little over a month since he was stricken down and it became evident he never could be any better. All that was possible was done to alleviate his suffering, and he must have possessed remarkable vitality to hold out so long. The many friends of the family deeply sympathize with them in their affliction. The funeral services will be from the house on Thursday, Rev. Hall officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Ridgeway Cemetery information shows he was born in 1829.
