JOS. W. HOLMES.
News of the death of Jos. W. Holmes, a well known and highly esteemed citizen of Jackson township, was received Monday. Mr. Holmes was born in New York in l830, moved to Wisconsin in 1860 and to Iowa in 1868, securing a large farm in Jackson township, this county, where he continued to reside until two years ago when he moved to Waucoma. In 1866 he was married to Mrs. Harriet L. Blair, who survives him. Their niece, Miss Hattie Holmes (Lawrence) has lived with them since she was a child and has been in every way a daughter to them, Mr. Holmes has been ill for some time with a complication of diseases, but was not confined to the house more than three weeks.
