Mrs. John Gallagher Dies.
Mrs. John Gallagher died at Mercy hospital at 4:15 Thursday morning, (Nov.5) aged 31 years. She had been sick for tour weeks with brain fever and about three weeks ago was brought to the hospital from her home in Bluffton township, Winneshiek county, near Decorah. It was at first believed that she would recover, but the disease could not be checked and, notwithstanding the fact that she had the best of medical treatment, she continued to grow worse until death came to her relief. Mrs. Gallagher was born in Bluffton township, and was well known in Decorah and throughout the township where she resided. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Madden, who was one of the prominent early settlers of Winnesheik county, and an educated and accomplished lady. She was a sincere Christian woman and of very charitable disposition, and her death will occasion deep regret among a large number of friends. The bereaved husband, who is left with a baby boy eight months old, will have the sympathy of all in his sad affliction. She is also survived by her mother, a brother, R. T. Madden, and one sister. Mrs. Thomas Henry. —Dubuque Times.
The remains were brought to Decorah last Friday morning and taken to Bluffton where the funeral was held Saturday.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Ella who was born in 1872 and is buried in St. Bridget Cemetery.
