Last, week’s Minneapolis papers mentioned the death on April 27th of D. F. Morgan, of the legal firm of Hale, Morgan & Montgomery, “one of the strongest at the Hennepin bar.” Mr. Morgan was born in Jackson Co., Iowa, in February, 1854, and came to Winneshiek county with his parents in 1856. He began the study of law in 1876, and was admitted to the bar at Austin, Minn., in 1877. In 1888 he was elected to represent Freeborn county in the lower branch of the state legislature. In 1894 he was elected to the state senate for a term of four years, and in the same year he was made general solicitor in the Northwest for the Northwestern Telephone Co., attending to its business in eight states. This position he hold at the time of his death. In 1876 Mr. Morgan was married to Ella M. Hayward, of Waukon, and a son and two daughters were born of the union. Mrs. Morgan died in 1893. Three years later he was again married to Mrs. Lizette F. Davis who, with the three children of the first marriage, survive him. Mr. Morgan’s aged parents reside in Washington state and they, especially, have the heartfelt sympathy of many of their old time Hesper friends.
Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Darius and that he is buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
