Cyrus B. Riggs was born March 1, 1828 in Wayne county, Ind.; died Apr. 22,1903, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. E. Owen, Clear Lake, Iowa; was married to Catherine Lambert April 24, 1851. As a result of this union six children were born, four of whom, W. K. Riggs, Mrs. W. W. Shroyer, Mrs. W. D. Hartsougb and Mrs. F. E. Owen, together with his wife, survive the father and husband. In 1854 he moved with his family and settled on a farm adjoining the site of the present village of Castalia, where he resided for nearly half a century. About four months ago, having sold his farm, he moved to Clear Lake. The body was brought here, where the funeral was held from the U. B. church, of which he was a devoted member since 1851, Rev. Ross officiating.
