Death of a Former Resident,
Postmaster Goddard received this week a Santa Ana, Cal., paper containing an announcement of the death of John G. Kimball, a resident of Decorah prior to and for a time after the civil war. During these years he was associated with his brother W. F., more commonly known as “Bill” Kimball, who was a merchant here and postmaster under Buchanan. During the war of the rebellion he raised a troop of cavalry in and around Janesville, Wis., but sickness kept him out of service. Subsequently he married, entered into business at Memphis, Tenn., and at an early day went to California where he became a pioneer resident of Santa Ana. His wife and three sons survive him.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, CA and that he was born January 1, 1837 and died April 12, 1903.
