The people were shocked and grieved to hear of the death of Alonzo Smith last week. Lony, as he was familiary{sp} called, passed his boyhood days in this community and won many friends by his pleasant ways. The family have our heartfelt sympathy.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Calmar City Cemetery shows he was born in 1860 and died in 1902.
