Edna Ann Huinker, 99, of Ossian, Iowa died peacefully Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa. Edna the daughter of Bernard and Susie (Weber) Brincks was born on January 31, 1920 in Ossian, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Francis de Sales in Ossian, Iowa. Before marriage Edna spent several years as a nanny in Chicago, Illinois.

Edna was united in marriage with Charles Gerhardt Huinker on April 4, 1945 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, Iowa. To this union seven children were born, Janet, Judy, Nancy, Larry, Sherry, Debbie and Joey. Together they farmed east of Ossian for thirty-four years before moving to Ossian in 1983. Edna loved her flowers and gardens. She tended a large vegetable garden and did lots of canning and freezing. Edna enjoyed sewing a variety of things, even a baptismal gown for the first grandchild of which approximately forty were baptized in.

Edna was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She led the Rosary in church and at the Ossian Senior Hospice for many years. She enjoyed dancing with Charlie, watching the birds and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Janet (Don) Hanson of Frankville, Iowa, Judy McGuire of Longmont, Colorado, Nancy (Lyle) Bodensteiner of Waukon, Iowa, Larry (Marlis) Huinker of Elkader, Iowa, Sherry (Bud) Stendel of Frankville, Iowa, Debbie (Ken) Lutkenhaus of Garner, Iowa, Joey (Sheryl) Huinker of Ossian, Iowa; twenty-one grandchildren, Randy (Lynette) Larson, Christy Twait, Joel (Megan) Hanson, Jody McGuire, Charles McGuire , Dawn (Aaron) Bondi, Brian (Cindy) Bodensteiner, Brenda (Ken) Klenk, Amy (Tim) Cummings, Nikki (friend, John Blake) Fish, Dustin (Molly) Huinker, Dana (Dustin) Hughson, Brad (Melissa Funte) Stendel, Sara Stendel, Shane (Brandi) Stendel , Jeremy Stendel, Carrie (Steve) Christopher, Lindsay (Jacob) Pilgrim, Jill (Jason) Martins, Corey (Tracey) Huinker and Bobbi Jo (Steve) Hanson; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Evelyn) Brincks of Ossian, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Maxine Brincks and JoAnn (Francis) Wenthold; brothers-in-law, Bill (Phyllis) Huinker of Postville, Iowa, Tom (Joyce) Huinker of Festina, Iowa.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie in 1993; parents, Bernard and Susie Brincks; brothers, Bill, Alphonse, Edwin and Cletus; sisters, Matilda, Lorraine, Agnes and Rita.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm with a 4:00 pm Rosary by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian, Iowa. There will also be a one hour visitation before Mass at the church on Friday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am on Friday, August 30, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian, Iowa with Rev. Robert Gross as the Celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery, Ossian, Iowa.
