MULHOLLAND.
In the death of Mrs. Roy Mulholland last Sunday, May 23, 1909, five children lost a mother’s love, cousel and advice; a husband the loving sympathy and companionship of a good wife, and a father his last daughter and companion.
It is seldom our duty to record so sudden a death, and a dark gloom spread over the whole community when it was whispered from one to another Sunday afternoon that “Mrs. Mulholland was gone.” Whereever it touched it left sorrow, and the expressions of sympathy for the bereaved ones were many and from the heart.
Her maiden name was Clara T. Smestad. She was born Feb. 15, 1873 and was at the time of her death aged 36 years, 3 months and 8 days. She was born in Ridgeway where she has always made her home. On March 23, 1894 she was united in marriage to Roy Mulholland. Mr. Mulholland being a railroad man, she remained here to keep house for her father.
Besides those already mentioned she leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, Eric Smestad of Hatton, N. D., and Andrew Smestad of Selan, Minn.
The funeral services were held at the home yesterday at 2 o’clock and at the United Lutheran church at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. Hartman, her pastor, officiated and songs were touchingly rendered by the choir. The flowers sent by the superintendent and railroad men of the Milwaukee road, by the Ladies’ Aid Society and friends here were many and surpassed in beauty and profusion anything ever seen here before. —Ridgeway Review.
