Arlene Klimesh, age 97, of Fort Atkinson, Iowa passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019, at Wellington Place in Decorah, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson, IA with Rev. Aaron Junge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Schluter - Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel in Fort Atkinson, Iowa and also after 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning at the funeral home.

Arlene Myrtle Taylor Klimesh was born on October 25, 1921, the daughter of John and Christina (Jarosh) Taylor in Spillville, Iowa. Arlene attended country school and St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. She was united in marriage to Stanley Klimesh on May 28, 1945 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville.

After Stanley returned from his tour of duty in the Navy during World War II, they lived in Calmar for a short period of time and then moved to Ft. Atkinson to operate a tavern. After Stan’s death in 1972, Arlene ran the tavern for two more years. She then worked at Sara Lee in New Hampton and finally at Turkey Valley School as a custodian. Arlene moved into Wellington Place Assisted Living in 2012 and after four years she moved into Wellington Place RCF until her passing.

Arlene’s survivors include one daughter: Faye (Clair) Carolan, Fort Atkinson, IA. And three sons; Mark (Cindy) Klimesh, Barcelona, Spain, Lyle (Mary Kay) Klimesh, Castle Rock, CO. and Joseph (Joyce) Klimesh, Omaha, NE. Eight grandchildren: Dr. Michael Carolan (Nora), Fort Collins, CO.; Debbie Curdy (Ryan), Kirkland, WA.; Allen Klimesh (Jennifer), Fredericksburg, VA.; Dr. Alison Patterson (Bryce), Denver, CO.; Nicole Klimesh Bonino (Andres), Montevideo, Uruguay; Ben Klimesh, Denver, CO.; Kim Lacy (Landon), Kansas City, MO; Jack Klimesh, Omaha, NE. Five great grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law: Delores Struck, Cedar Rapids, IA and Betty Shimek (Victor), Rochester, MN.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents: John and Christina (Jarosh) Taylor. Her husband Stanley Klimesh in 1972. Twin daughters Sharon Mae and Karen Kay Klimesh. Two sisters: Angie (Louis) Loesch and Harriett (Larry) Frana. Two brothers Richard (Camilla) Taylor and Howard (Clarabelle) Taylor. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ken Struck, Joseph Klimesh, Walter (Florine) Klimesh, Pauline (Clarence) Malek, Angeline (Elmer) Weston, Leonard (Cecilia) Klimesh and Stanley’s parents Joseph and Albina Klimesh.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, Iowa or the Fort Atkinson Public Library.
