Died in South Dakota.
For forty years or more Hanson Bridge was a well known character in this city and the northern part of the county.
He was born in Bury, England, July 21st, 1830, and died at Herried, S. D., on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1904 His remains were brought to this city—arriving last Saturday. Funeral services were held at Grace Episcopal church at 9:30 a. m. Sunday, conducted by Rev. Dr. McVettie, rector. The remains were taken to Burr Oak by the members of Winneshiek Lodge, No. 58, I. O. O. F, of which fraternity deceased was a member, the members of the order in Burr Oak uniting in the last rites at the grave. Peace be to his ashes. Great hearted, genial, loving, and often overflowing with humor and regard for others,—at last he is at rest.
Three sons and three daughters survive him, and of these five--to-wit, Mrs. A. W. Freeman of this city, Mrs. E. C. Magher of Herried, S. D., Miss Priscilla of Standing Rock Indian Reservation school, Sam of Bondurant, Iowa, and Mark of Sioux Falls, S. D.,--were permitted to gather at the funeral services.
