The following obituary was handed us for publication. Another of Bloomfield township's pioneers has gone to his reward. Until his last sickness he was an almost daily visitor in town and his presence will be greatly missed. Thomas Allen Windell was born in Virginia, Oct. 24, 1826, and died Oct. 21, 1904, lacking three days of completing 78 years. In early childhood he moved with his parents from Virginia to Ohio. At early manhood he moved from Ohio to Indiana and was there married to Eveline Jaret, Jan. 29, 1852. They had passed their golden wedding anniversary by nearly two years. In the fall of 1853 they came to Iowa and settled In Winneshiek county, and have remained residents of this county since that date. They were among the first pioneer residents of this vicinity and have seen it grow from its wild, rough state to its present high standing. Eight children were born to them, six sons and two daughters, all of whom are living. This is the first break in the family, the youngest of which is 33 years of age. Five of the eight children are present today. The absent are Joseph S. of Portland, Ore., George T. of Richmond, Wash., and John L. of Seattle, Wash. A great many trials and hard knocks, ups and downs, yet with a character spotless and a sincerity that has not been questioned and honesty in all deals is the priceless legacy of pure manhood that he leaves to those who are left behind, Few there are that have done as much hard work in a life time of the same length and it can be truly said that he was In the harness almost to the last. A few short months of declining sickness — then the end,
