Mr and Mrs. Jas. Kneeskern, Will and Roy and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bollman attended the funeral of Melvin Green at the Centennial church yesterday afternoon. Mr. Green was a brother-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Kneeskern.

Melvin Green was born in Michigan. March 6, 1837, died at his home north of here August 6th, 1904. He moved with his parents to Iowa Feb. 22, 1850, where he has lived continuously since except three years which he spent in the service of his country having enlisted with the 1st Iowa Cavalry in 1862, and was discharged in 1865. Was married to Ann Eliza Allen Jan. 3, 1867. To them were born three sons and one daughter, one son and the daughter dying in infancy. THE wife and sons. E. W. and Allen, survive the husband and father The funeral occurred at the centennial church, Rev Montgomery officiating. A large assembly of old neighbors and friends attended the funeral to pay their last respects to the dead. The body was carried to its last resting place by old comrades in arms. The ranks of the old pioneers and soldiers are rapidly thinning out and a younger generation is rising to fill their places. The friends of the deceased have the sympathies of a large circle of neighbors and friends in this their sad bereavement
