Death of Miss Edna Auchmoody.
Without warning and in the midst of a week of pleasure and enjoyment illness and death came to Miss Edna Auchmoody last week. For a month past she had been attending a school of music at Evanston Ill., studying to further perfect herself as a teacher in public schools. Graduation week with its attendant festivities had come and at its close a week of visiting and sight-seeing in Chicago was in anticipation. Early in the week an attack of appendicitis developed, and she was removed to one of the best hospitals where every attention was shown her, but the disease refused to yield to usual treatment and an operation became necessary. This was performed on Thursday and was successful in every way, disclosing nothing that made her recovery doubtful. Later a kidney complication appeared and in spite of the efforts of the best medical skill death ensued on Saturday
The intelligence of Miss Edna’s illness was followed so closely by the news of her death that no member of her family save her sister who was in Chicago could reach her. The deceased was the third daughter of Mrs. T. F. Auchmoody, and was twenty years of age. She was a graduate of Decorah High School and for two years past has taught in public schools. In the home circle she was a capable and willing helper, in her religious relations a sincere monitor of the Congregational church and Christian En¬eavor Society, and among her associates a young lady who was respected and esteemed for her personal worth and steadfast friendship.
Prof. Maddock from the school of music and Miss Lou Auchmoody accompanied the remains to Decorah Monday and the funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock at the house, Rev. Willett officiating. Many beautiful flowers surrounding the casket gave evidence of the deep sympathy felt for the afflicted ones in their bereavement.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in Phelps Cemetery and that she was born in 1884.
