Jerome Frana, age 83, of Ossian, IA passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, IA surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 12, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, IA with Rev. Donald Hertges presiding, burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, IA and also after 10:00 am at the church on Friday.

Jerome Paul Frana was born on June 26, 1936 to Adolph and Otilia (Pecka) Frana. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA. Jerome served two years in the Army. He hauled milk for Nordness Creamery for a short time then worked at Farmers Co-op in Ossian for 36 years where he loved visiting with the farmers. He also worked for Wiltgen Construction for a short time. Jerome was united in marriage to Lois Kipp on September 9, 1959. Together they had four children: Cindy, Wanda, Kevin and Craig. Jerome loved spending time with family and listening to old time music especially Polka. He even had a couple of concertinas which he enjoyed playing. He didn’t always want to travel but he enjoyed it after he went. He even got back to Hawaii where he was stationed when he was in the service.

Jerome is survived by his wife Lois of 59 years. Children: Cindy (Jerry) Remke, Ridgeway, IA; Wanda Valland, Ossian, IA; Kevin (Dori) Frana, Decorah, IA and Craig (friend, Darlene) Frana, Phoenix, AZ. Grandchildren: Jason Remke, Jill Smith, Jamie (Nate) Brummond, Kayla (Ryan) Glasgow, Shelby (friend, Steve) Frana, Cori (Bryan) Main, Austin Ives and Brandon (Charlie) Ives. Eleven great-grandchildren: Kyleigh, Kolton, Jolee, Caleb, Carson, Natalie, Kade, Emersyn, Ella, Alexa and Mya. Sister: Georgina Frana, Minneapolis, MN. Brothers: Marc Frana, Charles City, IA and Julius Frana, Ft. Atkinson, IA. Sister-in-law: Elaine Frana, Decorah, IA. Brothers-in-law: Duane (Elaine) Kipp, Festina, IA and Don (Eilleen) Kipp, Ossian, IA along with many nieces and nephews.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents: Adolph and Otilia (Pecka) Frana. Six brothers: Leonard, George (Marie), Adolph (Janice), Stan, Art and Ermin (Wilma). Sisters: Martha and Viola. Father and mother-in-law: Joseph and Leona Kipp. Sisters-in-law: Sonia Frana and Monica Frana along with nieces and nephews.
