TWO SUDDEN DEATHS.
Andrew Satthe Succumbs to Cholera Morbus and A. W. Buntrock to Heart Lesion.
Last Thursday morning about eleven o’clock Andrew Satthe, living in the south part of the fourth ward, died after an illness of hut a few hours. So sudden and mysterious was his death that Dr. P. M. Jewell, county coroner, was called in to make an official examination. From external indications and the evidence introduced at the inquest it was impossible to assign a cause for death. The deceased had been in his usual robust health the day previous and had retired feeling well. About four o’clock in the monring{sic} he awoke in violent pain, purging and vomiting and giving evidence of being very sick, His illness did not abate, and Dr. Stevens was called and prescribed medicine. About 11:30 the Doctor was called a second time and when he arrived found Mr. Satthe dead, death seemingly having occurred a half hour previous.
Dr. Jewell decided upon the removal of the dead man’s stomach to make an examination for poison. This was done and then the cause of death was clearly indicated as cholera morbus.
There has been not a little wild and irresponsible talk growing out of this case. Common as cholera morbus is, it does not frequently end as did this case, and in no instance can blame attach to anyone. It is an affliction that comes suddenly and generally with a violence that racks its victim mercilessly.
Mr. Satthe was a strong, robust man, a hard worker, and possessed of a genial disposition. He is survived by his wife, mother and brother. They had no children. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon, at the United Lutheran church, and the remains were taken to the Peter Haugen cemetery for interment.
