Passing of Pioneers.
James E. Robertson died at Fayette, over 83 years old. In 1849 he came to Iowa from Indiana, and in 1850 erected the first frame house on the bottom lands of the Volga river near Fayette, and therein he and his family lived nearly 53 years. The Alexander family came with the Robertsons, and both of them were interested in U. I. U., taking a leading partin its organization and erection. In early life he united with the Methodist church—a union that was a close one for all his life. His wife and seven children survive him.
