Two Graves Added.
This year's Decoration Day saw two new wreaths placed on veterans' graves. These are those of Jas. P. McKinney and Byron Clark. The first named was one of the pioneer citizens; so was Mr. Clark but not of this vicinity. He lived up in Fremont township for a long period, belonged to the Cresco Post, but came here a little over two years ago.

Transcriber’s Note: Both are buried in Phelps Cemetery. Mr. McKinney was born in 1827 and died in 1903. Mr. Clark was born July 23, 1839 and died June 3, 1903.

OBITUARY,
Byron Clark, who died at his home in this city on the evening of June 2d, was born July 23,1839, at McHenry, Ill. We have not the date of his coming to Winneshiek county, but he was married March 25,1862, at Granger, Minn., to Lydia Hendrickson, who, with two sons, survives him. Mr. Clark was a veteran of the civil war, having served a year and eight months with Co. D, 38th Iowa Infantry. About five years ago he became afflicted with asthma and heart disease, traceable to his army service, and has since been a semi-invalid. Four year ago he retired from his farm near Kendallville and came to Decorah to live. During the past two years he was seriously afflicted, but was not confined to his bed until two weeks before his death. He was a member of the M. E. church at the Ashley community in Howard county, and it is worthy of note that he is the first of a family of ten to die. His brothers and sisters are John A. Clark, Mrs. Ann Harris, Mrs. Susan Daskam, Mrs. Ralph Clark, Mrs. Emma Fifield and Mrs. Margaret Hammond, all of Cresco, Nathan Clark and Mrs. Nettie Holcomb of Albion township, Howard county, and Mrs. Clara Mark of Nashua. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Thursday afternoon, June 4, at two o’clock, Rev. K. W. Robbins and Col. Hughes Post officiating.
