To-day Burr Oak has had to bury another of its old citizens. Stewart Slavern Wade was born in Highland township, Virginia, Dec. 6th, 1823, from whence ho came to Winneshiek county, Iowa, in l856, where he has since resided. Married Mary Cassel Dec. 13, 1860. Three children were the fruit of this union, one dying when quite young, a son James recently returned from Oklahoma. And a daughter, Ella Delay, He also leaves five grand children, and a largo circle of friends. Mr. Henry Palmer who was hurled yesterday, and Mr. Wade have lived near neighbors for forty years, and it is a strange coincidence that their lives should go out within a few hours of each other. Mr. Wade like Mr. Palmer had many friends, he was a large hearted, generous man, and will be greatly missed in many ways. He had passed his 80th birthday. This was the eleventh burial service conducted by Rev. H. F. Dorcas in our cemetery since Nov. 4th.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Burr Oak Cemetery shows his first name spelled Stuart.
