Again we are called upon to record the death of one who formerly lived in our midst. Edna Ward, daughter of Benjamin and Vina Ward, was born in Burr Oak, September, 1874. Here girlhood was passed, and many will remember her as a sprightly bright girl, fine looking, a good singer, and with many desirable traits of character. In the early spring of 1880 she went to Ida county, this state, to spend a year with a sister who resided there; was married to Thomas Taylor of Ida Grove in March, 1890. About two years since her health began to fail; home physicians said there were indications of consumption and advised a change of climate. She went to different localities in Colorado, and last summer her husband took her to Los Angeles, Cal. She was tenderly cared for by her sister Alice and the best medical aid secured, but all to no purpose. She continued to grow weaker, and about sent for. He took her three little boys, aged respectively eleven, seven and five years, and went to Los Angeles. On the 1{?}th of February she was moved in an ambulance to Pasadena, to the home of her brother Will, where she died on the 21st, and there, among strangers, far away from the home she loved so much, away from father and mother, they laid her to rest. No money was spared for her comfort. The family of Mr. Ward are widely scattered. Two are left in Winnesheik{sp} county, three in Ida county, two in California, and of the eight children who reached maturity, this is the first break in the family circle.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows she is buried in Odebolt Cemetery in Sac County, IA.
