Geo. Albert Peacock was born in Hcmmingford, Canada East, near Montreal, July 20, 1841, and came to Winneshiek Co., Iowa, with his parents in 1855, then a mere lad, and this county has been his home for all these years. He was one of a family of the seven children of George and Emily Peacock, and among the pioneers of that early day. He was married to Maria Feltis July 26,1866, and eight children were the fruit of the union. Mrs. Emma Daniels, Annie Libbey, Hattie Schoonmakcr, Millie Briggs, Maud Maricle, and William, Albert and Willard Pea¬cock, all residents of this county, and with the wife and mother are left to mourn the loss of a good father and husband. Mr. Peacock has been a great sufferer for many months from that dire disease, cancer, of which there is none more fatal nor agonizing. Death released him from suffering Jan. 18th, 1904. He with his wife were members of the M. E. church in Burr Oak, from which church his funeral was attended Jan. 20 by a congregation of friends whose sympathy goes out to the bereaved family.
