Eleanor Elizabeth Lynch age 97 of Waucoma, IA, died Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Good Samaritan Home in West Union, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Waucoma, IA with Rev. Aaron Junge celebrating the Mass. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in rural Waucoma.
Friends may greet the family from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019, at the church.
Eleanor Elizabeth Lynch was born May 10, 1922, in Decorah, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanora (Korbel) Brom. She was one of five children. She lost two of her brothers during World War II. She attended school in Calmar and was a 1940 graduate of Calmar High School. After school, she met the love of her life at a dance at the Inwood in Spillville, J. Leo Lynch. The couple was married on October 27, 1945, at St. Aloysius in Calmar. To this union, three sons were born.
After high school, Eleanor worked at the Winneshiek County Courthouse for a few years as the automobile clerk. After Leo and Eleanor were married, she moved to the family farm near Waucoma, where they raised their family and lived until retirement.
She was a part of the Catholic Daughters of America, volunteered at the Waucoma Library, and belonged to bridge club for many years. She and Leo enjoyed golfing together. Being longtime members of the South Winneshiek Country Club and playing in many couples tournaments.
She is survived by two sons, Patrick (Theresa) Lynch of Sedalia, MO, Charlie (Arlene) Lynch of Fort Atkinson, IA; three grandchildren, Stacie (Scott) Savage of Warsaw, MO, James Lynch of Sedalia, MO, Phillip (Kristy) Lynch of Clinton, MO; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Haylie, Mishala and Preston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J. Leo Lynch in 2003; one son, Mark Lynch; four brothers, Walter Brom, Leo Brom, George (Harriet) Brom, Clarence (Delores) Brom.
