Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Jira attended the funeral of Frank Valenta in Spillville, Tuesday.

Transcriber’s Note: St. Wenceslaus Cemetery shows he is buried there and was born in 1847 and died August 30, 1908.

Mrs. Anton Fisher and Mrs. James Sobolik of Calmar drove down this morning to attend the funeral of Mrs. S.’s uncle, Fr. Valenta

Last Sunday morning at 10 o’clock occurred the death of Frank Valenda, Sr., who has been a patient sufferer from a complication of diseases since last New Year. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved children; the youngest of who is 13 years, who are doubly bereaved by the lost{sic} of their mother who preceded their father in death about 13 years ago. Mr. Valenta was 59 years old at the time of his death, and leaves to mourn their loss four sons and four daughters. The sons are Frank of Lidgerwood, N. D., Louis of Dubuque, Joseph and Victor at home. The daughters are Mrs. Joseph Benesh of this place, Misses Anna, Mary and Helena, also at home. Also two brothers, John and Anton. The funeral took place this morning at 10 o’clock in the St. Wenceslaus church, and was attended by a large number of people. Mr. Valenta was a member of the Catholic Workmen society, who attended in a body and escorted the remains to the final resting place. The pall bearers were Chas. Andera, Jos. Kruchek, J. P. Kuhn, Albert Soukup, John Novak and Wenzel Balik.
