Franklin Dean was born Feb. 22, 1830, in Leichfield Co., Conn., and died at his home in Lakeview, Iowa, April 21, 1905. At the age of nine, with his parents, he moved to Heron Co., New York, where he lived until 1854, when he moved to Iowa and settled in Bloomfield township. He was united in marraige{sic} to Miss Lucy Morse Sept. 26, 1870. As a result of their union three sons were born, two of whom, Charles of Elma and William of Lakeview, together with his wife, survive the father and husband. The body was brought here for interment. The funeral was held from the U. B. church, Rev. Montgomery officiating. The two sons accompanied the remains of their beloved father from Lakeview, but the wife was not able to make the trip on account of ill health. A large number of old neighbors and friends were present to pay their last respects to the memory of one who was always held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, on account of his strict honesty, fair dealing with all, and as a Christian in the fullest sense. He was a kind husband and a loving father.
Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Pleasant View Cemetery shows his birth in 1832.
