Last week we reported Ruth Gates as slowly regaining her health, but on Friday she was taken suddenly worse, and Saturday about noon she passed away, and to-day a very large congregation assembled at the M. E. church and listened to a very pathetic sermon by Rev. Lee, wherein he gave words of comfort to the grief-stricken parents and other relatives. A profusion of flowers covered the white coffin, tokens of love from friends. Ruth was a bright, interesting child, beloved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her mates at school, but more especially in the home, where she was ever its light and its joy. Ruth was the youngest one of the three daughters of John and Minnie Gates, born Nov. 30, 1892, and was aged 12 years and 4 months.
