Our town was greatly shocked on Sunday morning when the news rapidly spread that Mrs. Geo. Reid had died during the night. She was taken with grip several days ago, and later, pneumonia made its appearance, with the above results. Mr. Reid and children have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. There is one little son only seven weeks old.

The funeral of Mrs. Geo. Reid was attended on Wednesday by a large congregation, attesting the respect in which she was held. Rev. E. F. Lee came up from Ossian to conduct the service. Emma Balentine was born Nov. 8, 1867, in Buffalo, Wis., became a member of the United Presbyterian church when 15 years of age, was married to Geo. Reid Nov. 26, 1888. She was the mother of three children, Willie, aged about 14 years, Vera, about 12, and little Duncan, 7 weeks.
