Death of an Old Fort Resident.
Word was received from Fort Atkinson yesterday of Mrs. Puffer, mother of Mrs. Joseph Shima. Mrs. Puffer was in her sixty-seventh year and had been ill for some time. She is survived by five children—Mrs. Shima, Mrs. H. L. Curtis of Ann Arbor, Mrs. Dodd of Strawberry Point, and a daughter and son living at home.

Mrs. Mary Puffer died at her home in this city Wednesday evening, Feb. 1st, at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 6 days, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Puffer was born near Budweis, Bohemia, Dec. 25, 1839. She married Mr. Wenzel Puffer in 1866 in her native land and in 1870 they emigrated to America, residing in Spillville for several months, afterwards coming to Fort Atkinson, which place has been their home ever since. To this union were born ten children, (nine girls and one boy,) five of whom with her husband, survive her. The children are as follows: Mrs. Joe Shema, of Decorah, James and Mary of this city, Mrs. A. R. Dodd of Strawberry Point, and Mrs. H. Curtis of Lansing Mich. All were at her bedside with the exception of Mrs. Curtis. The funeral services were held Friday morning from St. John’s church and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
