ANDERSON.
Saturday morning about 6:30 o’clock, with but a moment’s warning that possibly his last hour had come, Andrew B. Anderson, whose home has been in Decorah for upwards of thirty years, died at his residence on Water street from heart failure. Always an early riser, Mr. Anderson had gone about his usual morning work of lighting the fires, etc., at about 5:30 o’clock. Pain seized him about his heart and in a short time it became so severe that he was compelled to go back to bed again, and death followed in a few minutes.
Mr. Anderson’s birthplace in in Vang, Valders, Norway, and on May 5th last he celebrated his fifty-eighth birthday. When twenty-five years of age he came to America and located in Decorah and this has been his permanent home. Here he has worked at his trade as shoemaker, his honesty as a workman and courtesy to patrons winning a lucrative and growing trade.
About thirty years ago he was married to Marie Grothland of Quandahl. Four children were both to them, two of whom, Mrs. S. L. Hanson of Albert Lea and Miss Beatrice, with their mother survive.
The suddenness of Mr. Anderson’s death came as a cruel blow to his family and a shock to his many friends. But a few hours before he had been busy on his bench—in fact his seming{sic} robust health permitted him to work until nearly midnight, that his customers who were depending on his labors might not be disappointed.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the United Lutheran church, Rev. J. O. Hougen officiating, and the remains were interred in the Lutheran cemtery{sic}. A large congregation attested by their presence the sympathy felt for the family and their respect for the deceased.
