Lorraine Polansky, age 83, of Spillville, IA died on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at the Patty Elwood Center, Cresco, IA

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2019 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with Rev. Robert Gross presiding, burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Lorraine Mary (Flaherty) Polansky was born July 12, 1935 in Cresco, IA to John and Mildred (Nibaur) Flaherty. She attended school at Lourdes and graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco, IA in 1954. Lorraine married Edward Polansky on June 21, 1955 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes, IA. Together they had three children: Diane, David and Carol. Lorraine worked at the Spillville Post Office, St. Wenceslaus School, Kwik Star in Calmar and the Old World Inn in Spillville. She was a very hard worker and very detailed in everything she did at home or at work. Lorraine enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, South Winneshiek Golf Club, making wine and going to dances with Ed. Lorraine was an active volunteer at Church, school and town functions. She was a caregiver for Mildred Flaherty, Mayme Vopova and her husband Ed. Lorraine was instrumental in starting their tree farm and did planting, pruning and selling of the trees, they donated trees to the church for many years for Christmas.

Lorraine is survived by three children: Diane (Melvin) Ward, Ankeny, IA; David Polansky, Belleville, IL; Carol (John) Kout, Jr., Independence, IA. Grandchildren: Matthew (Alissa) Ward, Andrew and Heather Ward, David Polansky, Jr., Katrina Polansky, Alicia (Don) Imbouthathong. Great grandchildren: Landon and Macy Polansky, Emerson, Lincoln, Adelaide, Alaric, Rhonin and Callum Ward. Kaia and Greyson Imbouthathong. Sister: Catherine (Ron) Hageman, Calmar, IA; Brothers: Tom (Kay) Flaherty, Lourdes, IA, and Bob Flaherty, Lourdes, IA.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents: John and Mildred Flaherty. Mother and father-in-law: William and Caroline (Novak) Polansky. Her in-laws: Helen (Mike) Sabelka, Wilma (Jerome) Cervenka and Bill (Grace) Polansky. Janet Flaherty Sister: Dorothy (Mike) Poshusta; Great Granddaughter: Brooklyn Renae Polansky.
