Luella D. Westgate was born in Raisin, Michigan, March 23, 1859, and died in Hesper, Iowa, July 28, 1905, of nervous prostration, Luella began teaching school at the age of seventeen, but because of the illness of her mother she gave up teaching and devoted her life to the care of her parents. The family moved to Hesper seven years ago, and Luella endeared herself to all who came to know her by her cheerfulness under all circumstances and by her earnest and always consistent Christian life. The immediate relatives who remain to mourn, but not as those without hope, are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Westgate and a sister, Miss Matie Westgate. The funeral service was held at the home on the afternoon of Aug. 1, Rev. H. C. Carter officiating. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones.
