An Old Resident Gone.
About 7 o’clock Tuesday morning October 29, 1907, Amandus Klein passed away at his home here, after a brief illness. It was only the natural breaking down of a formerly very active man.
He was born in Hagen, Belgium, June 2, 1832, and came to America in 1847 to Holy Cross, Wis., and came to Winnesheik{sic} county, Iowa, in 1873; was married August 7, 1860 in Milwaukee, Wis., to Miss Mary Wagner, and of this union 13 children were born, Katherine )deceased); Barbara, (Mrs. Heinen, Ossian); Peter F. at Marion, Iowa; Marie, at home; Anna (deceased) ;Michael J., Ossian; Charlie M. (deceased); Nicholas A. at home; Francis J. at Ossian; Joseph J., Fort Dodge, Iowa; Carrie (Mrs. J. M. Cannon) St. Paul, Minn.; John A. Cresco, Iowa; Linas A. St Paul, Minn.
The widow and children mourn the loss of a kind, indulgent and affectionate husband and father. He was a truly good man, and we doubt if he had an enemy in the world.
The funeral was held from St. Aloysius church, Tuesday Oct. 31, which was very largely attended. The pall bearers were: H. Busch, Wm. Steffes, N. C. Meyer, J. D. Becker, H. J. Giesen, Peter Meyer.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ryan, of this city and Rev. Norris, of Lourdes. —Calmar Courier.
