Died – JOHNSON - In Hesper, Jan. 21st, 1861, of Consumption, after an illness of nearly one year, Mr. Stephon T. Johnson, aged 24 years 9 months and 14 days.
During his protracted illness not a murmur or complaint escaped his lips. He died without a groan or struggle, but as if falling asleep in Jesus. He left a wife and one child, and a largo circle of friends to motion their loss; yet they sorrow not as those that have no hope.

His tombstone reads:
Died: Jan 21, 1861 Aged 24 Ys 9 Ms 14 Ds
