Mrs. Hulda Baird died at the home of her son O. H. Bush, near Cresco, Friday, March 24th, 1905, after an illness of four days, of la grippe. The remains were brought here where the funeral was held at the U. B. church Monday, Rev. Smith officiating. Quite a congregation of old friends and neighbors assembled to pay their last respects to the dead. The following biography was written by herself a short time before she died:--Hulda Howe was born in the town of Barnston, Canada East, March 30, 1830. In 1855 moved with her parents to the state of Wisconsin. Experienced religion while young, uniting with the M. E. church and remaining a member until 1885, when I withdrew and joined the United Brethren church. In 1865 was married to Jacob Cooper and went from Wisconsin to Iowa. In 1890 I was married to Josiah Baird. He died in 1898.
